Named “Top Attraction in Myrtle Beach” by CNBC, The Carolina Opry has been a top Myrtle Beach staple for years, but during the holidays, they spare no detail in putting on the perfect holiday show. In its 34th season, the Christmas Show of the South combines exceptional performance and production of your traditional favorites as well as the new. The cast of 35 award-winning singers, musicians, and dancers put on this highly anticipated show beginning November 1 and running throughout the holiday season. The theater is closed down for one week prior to the holiday show in order to decorate, creating a most festive atmosphere for the holiday show.
Christmas at Pirates Voyage retells Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with a pirate themed twist! Throughout the tale, acrobats fly high above the lagoon, toys come to life alongside live animal cast members, and there is a live nativity with the appearance of an angel with a special message for the audience. Of course, in addition to the awe inspiring performance, there is a delicious feast provided as well!
The Alabama Theater’s award-winning holiday extravaganza, The South’s Grandest Christmas Show, has become a family tradition for many. This show incorporates Christmas classics with contemporary favorites to truly get guests into the spirit of the season. The South’s Grandest Show is a holiday musical full of special effects, talent and comedy. Make this your new family holiday tradition!
New for 2019, Christmas on Ice brings a cast of champion ice skaters from around the world to Myrtle Beach. Paired with exceptional singers and a high kicking chorus line, this show is sure to become a holiday favorite. Skaters perform their ice routines to all of your favorite holiday tunes on a 50-foot real ice stage. The theater in the round stage set up makes it so there is not a bad seat in the house. Christmas on Ice runs from November 4 – December 28 at Fantasy Harbor (off Hwy. 501).
The Nutcracker has been a holiday tradition for generations! Since 2006, Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre has been delighting Grand Strand audiences with its live Nutcracker performances. During the month of December, Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre’s performing company along with 60 children from their training school, Coastal Dance Center, puts on several performances at Wheelwright Auditorium on the campus of Coastal Carolina University. Dates for 2019 are December 7, 8, 14, and 15. All performances are at 3 p.m.
